welcome :)

Hello, welcome to Michelle M Cakes!  My name is Michelle Martinez and I make custom order cakes, cupcakes, and pastries.  I graduated with a degree in baking and pastry from Kendall College in Chicago.  While I was in school I learned just how much I love making these edible creations.  Specialty cakes are a yummy way to make your occasions unforgettable!

I would like to start off by saying how grateful I am for all of the support I have gotten since my very first custom cake…it really means the world to me, so thank you thank you thank you everyone!! Some of my very favorite supporters are the Gonzales/Rivera family:)They have been such a huge help, especially with designing this very blog! This post is dedicated to them and the cakes they have ordered in the past…

This was my first cake for them! I surprised Kristine with this teacher’s desk cake at her graduation party.  My favorite part was the little post it on the desk reminding her of the date of my graduation party later that month! This was also my first time doing wood grain fondant:)

Here is one of my first purse cakes.  Sometimes the best part of making the cake is seeing how all the little details come together, like the red lining to all the “leather” pieces.

One great thing about ordering a customized cake is being able to make it unique and especially for you! The fun part is thinking of ways to tie together your favorite things.

As some of you know, this is one of my all time favorite cakes:)There was a brand new addition to the family and I got to make her baptism cake.  They are big fans of giraffes and read this book to her every night.  I have been interested in painting and drawing since I was in grade school and this was my first chance to actually paint on a cake.

They are such an awesome family and I’ve had a blast making these creations for them!

Thank you so much for stopping by and checking out Michelle M Cakes and I hope to be a part of your special occasions! Keep a look out for more blogs to come! You can also follow me and become a fan!

p.s. a special shout out to the amazing MishaMedia! If you haven’t already seen their work you should really check it out…like now!  It’s unlike anything I’ve seen before. They capture moments like no one else so look into them before those memories pass you by!
